When to See a Chiropractor for Headaches

Written By Total Care Injury & Pain Centers on June 10, 2021

Headache TreatmentScientists have identified over 300 causes for headaches. Most causes are worth a trip to the chiropractor for fast, lasting relief. At Total Care & Injury Pain Center, we aim to help those suffering from headaches and migraines find true relief by addressing the root cause.

How a Chiropractor Helps With Headaches

It’s easy to inadvertently give yourself headaches and/or migraines with lifestyle routines like spending your daily commute hunched over your steering wheel, poor posture at your desk, regularly performing movements that strain your neck and back, and other ergonomically unfriendly positions and movements.

All those motions and positions create tension that leads to headaches and migraines. The good news is our chiropractors provide spinal manipulations that research proves can provide you that much needed relief.

This 2017 article gathered data from a 17-month study on 104 patients who suffered from at least one migraine attack per month. Data showed that migraine duration dropped after receiving chiropractic care. Even more, results from the group of patients who took pharmaceuticals didn’t even come close.

This meta-analysis of six studies on 677 migraine patients concluded that spinal manipulation is able to satisfactorily reduce migraine days and pain/intensity.

And this 2019 case series determined that chiropractic helped reduce pain, patients experienced more pain free days, reduced the need for pain pills, and patients reported less anxiety.

Making regular chiropractic care part of your routine is a great way to protect yourself from headaches. We have adjustments that specifically target tension, allowing your body to calm inflammation, increase blood flow, and loosen your muscles.
